A tidal window calculation is the application of a specific algorithm on a request. Different algorithms can be selected by selecting the calculation setting in the first selection box. This choice determines which criteria will be used to decide if something is safe or not. Two main differences are "UKC percentage" and "probability of bottom touch". The former indicates that a ship should have at least a percentage of its own depth as slack under its keal. So by selecting 15% UKC for a ship with 18 meters draft, determines that it is safe when there is at least 2.7 meters under keal clearance in still water. The latter criterion is a bit more extensive. After the UKC is calculated it also incorporates the possible vertical movements the ship can make considering the water conditions. The result is a probability of touching the bottom during the voyage, which is compared to the safety criterion.Goedkeuren of afwijzen tijpoort
