The Protide application is hosted on two dedicated servers, each placed in a different datacenter of supplier Intermax Managed Hosting. The servers are configured in a geographical failover setup, to optimize availability.

Intermax Managed Hosting

Charta Software has selected Intermax Managed Hosting as the supplier of the necessary hosting services, because of their expertise, guaranteed service and state-of-the-art data centers in the Rotterdam region.

Advised by the experts of Intermax a reliable, high-end and scalable setup has been chosen to ensure the availability and performance of the application.

To ensure the availability of the Protide application, the servers are located in different datacenters ('Weena' and 'Spaanse Kubus').

Hardware

The two Protide machines have exactly the same hardware specifications. They are configured to deliver optimal and steady performance for the application. Because of their cost effectiveness, scalability is high.

  • Transtec CALLEO 121L Server
  • Intel Xeon X3220, 2.4 GHz, 8 MB (QuadCore)
  • 4 GB DDR2
  • 2x Seagate 160 GB SATA hard drive (RAID 1)

Software

Just like the hardware, the installed software is completely alike. Running on Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition, the Protide application makes use of a MySQL 5.1 database.

Network

The Protide servers are protected by the firewalls of the Intermax network:

  • Protide 1 (Intermax Weena): protide1.chartasoftware.com (80.95.161.143)
  • Protide 2 (Spaanse Kubus): protide2.chartasoftware.com (80.95.161.144)

Backup

The main database, which holds all the Protide data is located on the Protide1 server, but is constantly replicated to two servers (Protide2 and local office server). Each server makes a database backup every six hours, with a three hour difference between the servers. This results in 8 complete backups a day for data protection.

All harddisks on the servers are mirrored in a RAID configuration to prevent data loss in case of a hardware failure.
