Specific request details consists of the ship, the load, the direction, berth and the requested time to start the channel voyage.

Ship

A ship is modeled by its type (bulk carrier, tanker, et cetera), length (LPP), width and dead weight. These figures are used to select the best fitting hull shape, which is scaled to match the given dimensions. For readability and administration purposes also the IMO number, name and call sign are available.

Load

The load of a ship determines the draft and stability characteristics. The draft can be different for forward, middle and aft of the ship. For UKC purposes the deepest point is used, but to calculate the ship movements all three figures are used to model the trim. Next to the draft the load is defined by the water displacement, GM (meta centric height), GG' (free fluids correction) and the natural roll period.

Other request data

Finally a request to start a channel voyage is defined by the berth (the exact location), the direction (inbound/outbound) and the requested time of departure. PROTIDE by default will try to find the first possible safe voyage after the requested time of departure within the following 24 hours.
